Last week not only marked the launch of a very tasty collaborative collection between Puma and homegrown West London fashion label Trapstar, but also the beginning of another special partnership – The Drop Date x NeverNotOut
Now, not only can you find out the latest news and release dates of all the best upcoming trainers over at The Drop Date, you also get a real insight into the story behind each shoe, with us guys at NeverNotOut.com bringing the exclusive content from launch parties and events across London and beyond! Street guys on the front line, working with a more established major player…
Which neatly bring us back to Puma x Trapstar 🙂
The collection itself is made up of four tee shirts, two crew neck sweatshirts, a pair of sweat pants, one full-zip hooded track top, one half-zip jacket, one pair of Disc Blaze trainers, and a trio of iconic heritage sneakers – two luscious Suedes and one super clean Basket.
To give us a deeper insight into the ideas and stories that helped forge this collection, we were invited down to Kachette on Old Street for a secretive Q&A with the founders of Trapstar, and Global Head of Lifestyle and Select at Puma, Yassine Saidi.
It’s been a long road for Trapstar and Puma, meeting up through mutual connections almost 5 years ago. Fast forward to the end of 2015, where the two came together for the first time, dropping a very seductive, but completely wearable blacked out Disc Blaze and matching goalkeeper jersey.
That was merely a teaser however, and this second collaboration marks the point where finally both Trapstar and Puma were happy to launch a proper collaborative collection, not just an SMU of an old silhouette.
This entire collection has been born amid an underground subculture, and transcends their initial collab with a complete selection, and single utilitarian thread stitching it all together.
After the Q&A it was party time, with DJ’s holding it down until the live PA’s from the cream of grime and hip hop, including US rapper Shy Glizzy, all the way from Washington D.C.
Huge thank you to everyone involved, and don’t forget you can shop the entire collection right now here: uk.trapstarlondon.com
