In 1976, AS Saint-Étienne completed their landmark European Cup journey to arrive in the final, held at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
Their opponents on this misty Scottish night were none other than European heavyweights Bayern Munich, looking for their third consecutive European Cup.
And, despite an heroic performance from the Les Verts, Bayern eventually got their goal, and went on to hold for the one nil win.
Although the St Etienne players were distraught, their fans (and the neutral Scots) gave them a standing ovation, and they returned home heroes, despite the loss.
To celebrate this epic and historic match, Le Coq Sportif have reissued their iconic kit jersey and track top – with unbelievable accuracy!
The tops were officially launched with a cosy little party at London’s Present store, where we were treated to hotdogs from Red Dog Saloon, and tunes from the master Don Letts on the decks!
Thanks to all who made it down, and of course, Sane Communications/the LCS team for the invite.
And don’t forget to head down to Present pick up one of these beautiful tops, or if you can’t make it to London, simply click here.
