It’s safe to say 1985 was a very good year.
Not only was the first artificial heart transplanted in the US, but closer to home Reebok launched the NPC UK II at the height of Wimbledon tennis fever! Boris Becker was crowned the youngest ever Wimbledon champ, but it was Reebok who were bossing the courts fashion-wise.
Now, finally, after years of poor quality “Sports Direct” retros, the NPC is getting the re-release it deserves, thanks to a chance discovery of an OG pair in Oi Polloi co-founder Nigel Lawson’s top secret trainer bunker.
Which neatly brings us round to present day 🙂
The lads decided to throw a secret party to celebrate this momentous occasion, inviting the creme de la creme of UK menswear and fashion, instead of catering for the “sneakerhead” crowd. It actually worked well, with a lovely mix of Northerners and Southerners, all squeezed into a gorgeous gallery on Bateman Street, before spilling out causing a roadblock of selvedge denim, plaid shirts, and vintage trainers.
Thanks for the free beers and ciders Stella! And thanks for the history lesson Steve lol!
